Random Thoughts

I have just read a small book by Jim Lehrer. I'm especially interested in him because he went to school in Marion when he was a young boy. Now he is a world renowned writer and commentator of news on PBS.

He has written 17 novels and lots of other things. He writes strange stories, some are fascinating. This one is called "Eureka," and placed in Kansas. The main character has adventures you wouldn't believe. All men who are going through the change might appreciate it.

I never get to a movie but when my daughter Mary took me to Wichita to a doctor's appointment we had some extra time. We went to see the new movie, "Charlie Wilson's War." Tom Hanks has the lead. It is based on a true story. We even had popcorn!

My daughter and her husband Bill were here a couple of days. What a lift that was, but now I miss them.

Bob is a reader. He was reading a big book about World War II set in northern Italy.

I was reading a series of books about the Civil War, which Bob had loaned me. I felt like I was right in the middle of it. It tells about the generals on both sides. Sometimes my sympathies were with the handsome General Lee, then with General Grant. That was a terrible war. All wars are terrible.
