Let there be light! What a wonderful joy it is to have the electricity come on after an absence of say five hours or so. Friday evening, just as I was getting the news, like a snap of the fingers, there it went. It was supper time, no way to cook or heat food and no way to read or watch TV. Was it the end of the world?
No, think of the pioneers who lived through that kind of life. I can say I was a pioneer. No electricity, no telephone, no gas heat, and no indoor plumbing. It didn't seem to bother me then, but of course I didn't know about the wonderful life where you just press buttons. If I had heard of that then, I wouldn't have believed it, just a pipe dream.
I did live through both events and feeling sympathy for the workmen who had to leave their comfortable homes and try to repair the damage. I really do appreciate those goodhearted people.
Ladies, be sure to guard your expensive jewelry. I just read about a dog which had swallowed a $5,000 ring. With medication, the owner was able to make the dog "urp" the ring.
When I was a tiny baby my dad gave me a $10 gold piece to play with. My parents thought I swallowed it. Anyway, it has never been seen since. Maybe I'm more valuable than I think.
Can anyone report some little note of spring? If so, I would like to reward them with some emblem of value.
