Exciting news! Little Luke Kerns has arrived! Another great-great-grandchild for me. His parents are Jennifer and Matt Kerns of McPherson. His great-grandmother, Wanda Burk of Colorado Springs, and his grandmother, Kathy Nicholson of McPherson, are thrilled over the young man. He completes a five-generation group. I'm so anxious to hold the little darling in my arms.

I'm sure all who had family gatherings for Easter had a happy time together.

I had an interesting visitor the other day. Donna Newsom Tabatabai, who lives in Houston, Texas. She remembered the Easter egg tree that Julia Mullen had in her yard and the beautifully decorated cookies. I think she said she hadn't been back in her hometown for 40 years.

If you want to be remembered, be sure to express your talents like Julia Mullen did.

Donna and her husband met while students at K-State. He was from Iraq, so after they were married they went there to live for several years. When they came back to the USA, they went to Texas to live, where he followed his career as an engineer.

Donna gave me a book, "Guests of the Sheik," written by Elizabeth Fernea. It is a true story written by a woman Donna knows. Honeymooners went to Iraq to live for two years and it is all about the culture and life in a small town there in that country. They lived in a mud house in the complex. The sheik's harem was in the same location. The women seldom met in the same building with the men.
