Random Thoughts

The other day I noticed in the newspaper an article about a display of imported African cloth at a museum in Arkansas City. The cloth was said to be very colorful and woven in interesting designs. It brought back memories of the time I met a couple visiting their mother in Amsterdam. She was a longtime friend I had met in my travels. Anyway, the man manufactured cloth in Africa. I asked him if he could send me some but he didn't think I would like it so discouraged the idea. That was the end of my dealing in international trade.

Did you read about the cat that lived in a hospital and was able to detect when a patient was ready to die? The cat would get up on the bed and cuddle close to the patient. Sure enough, it wouldn't be long before the patient died. The staff in the hospital said this happened so often that they believed the cat could feel the patient's failing spirit.

All of my family is returning from our family reunion that was held on the Oregon coast. I hated to miss it but there comes a time when you can't travel that far. Two of my granddaughters called me from the beach so I could hear the ocean roar on their cell phones. I call that mean, because I would rather be there. Oh well, I've seen the Pacific and the Atlantic roll on a lot of beaches so I guess I can't complain.
