Random Thoughts

Well, the hot subject today is the heat. I could tell you about the 1930s. If you think this is bad you should have been here then. There was no air conditioning then, so the rich and the poor were in the same boat. My neighbor lady and I took our quilts and pillows outside and slept on the hard ground. My husband refused to join us. He liked the comfort of his bed no matter how hot it was. Talk about desperate housewives. Dignified people put their mattresses upon wooden "horses" out in their yards.

The dust was worse than the heat. I remember packing wet towels around the windows and doors. I hung wet sheets over my baby in her baby carriage.

I read where Wichita is having a time with the homeless congregating in the public libraries. They are unkempt, drug or alcohol addicts. Not all, but some. The librarians are aware of how much they need a cool place so they try to be kind to them. Wichita should be thinking of a place for them, rather than casinos and large auditoriums. I haven't checked with our library. I don't know if they have a problem or not.

Did you read about the woman who had a collection of ceramic turtles? She had a garage sale and she put some of them in the sale. One of them contained the ashes of her husband's first wife and was quietly sold. The woman is very anxious to retrieve the items. If you have it please return it to the seller.
