Random Thoughts
Maybe we should trade all the months of the year for October-kind of weather. I'm for that.
Old Settlers' was great. A perfect day. What a wonderful tradition. I saw lots of people I know. Besides that, I had family here. My sister, Marge and her husband Don from Arizona, my sister, Betty from Portland, Ore., my daughter, Wanda from Colorado, and my daughter, Mary and her husband Bob of Salina. It was her class reunion time. It was just great to have them all here.
I always enjoy the introduction of the high school classes. What fun to see the children of the families that I have known for years.
My thoughts turn to when I was in school. Special teachers. A couple of women teachers were driving down Elm Street and drove right off into the Luta. No one was hurt but pretty exciting at the time.
My model teacher was the home ec teacher. I adored her. She took me to Manhattan one time and we stayed over in her sorority house. What a thrill that was.
One teacher had no control of her classes. She would cry if someone misbehaved. You know that brought out the ornery-ness in all of us.
Our principal was tough. I saw him knock a boy down the stairs once. We did have some pretty rough boys in school at that time.
Most of my company is leaving, except my daughter Wanda, who will spend the moth with me. That suits me fine.
So, looking of you at OSD next year!
