The things you learn too late are too numerous to mention. I have just read that the director of foreign languages education is involved in preschool teaching of other languages. Gosh, I thought I was doing good when I taught my children to say "Mama" and "Papa." Poor little kids aren't allowed to be babies anymore.
The play put on by the high school, "Beauty and the Beast," was very successful. The costumes were something to see and the young people knew their lines and actions just perfect.
In the book I read, "Slave Ship," I learned about how the slaves were very cruelly treated and the crew didn't have much better treatment. Often they were young boys picked up off the streets of London or other cities. It meant nothing to beat them as well as the slaves. Many a person ended up as shark food in the ocean. In fact, some jumped overboard to avoid the beatings.
Our past history reveals some very bad treatment of human beings.
The story of the captain who became a Christian and wrote the lovely song "Amazing Grace," is told. Too bad other captains didn't follow his suit.
Mother Nature likes to trick us. We were just enjoying the fall weather when bang! The temperature dropped to freezing. Brrr!
I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. I did.
