Random Thoughts

Let's talk about snow, that beautiful white stuff. I looked out my west window Thursday morning and there I saw a blizzard in full action. The wind was blowing and the snow was so thick I couldn't see across the street. Senior citizens like me can recall days like that. Those kind of storms can be dangerous.

You know the story about the judge who is buried in our cemetery. He had driven his horse and buggy to a western Kansas town to judge a case. On the way home he got into a terrible blizzard and was frozen to death.

Of course, I tell about walking to country school (miles) through drifts way too high for my little, short legs. What were my parents thinking?

Why do people like to risk their lives in dangerous activities, like car racing, mountain climbing, or playing with killer whales? I just read in the paper about a man who performed with a killer whale and the whale took him to the bottom of the ocean and held him there. He did extricate himself. How about the men who did an act in Las Vegas with white tigers? One man hasn't recovered yet from his injuries.

There was a high school girl who was having her picture taken with a supposedly tame tiger. She was killed.

They say man is the most dangerous animal alive. I wonder how smart, though.

I can't close without mentioning my dear classmate, Bernice Corley. We were the same age. She lived in Phoenix, Ariz., and we enjoyed many telephone visits. Goodbye, old friend.
