A Christmas letter from Steve and Phoebe Janzen is very entertaining. They now live on a farm south of Florence and raise goats. What a fun story! Those goats are like people, all have names and special personalities. They also have some chickens. Phoebe never knows when she might have to do battle with a feisty rooster. It's a good thing she has a healthy sense of humor. People who live on farms need one — they never know what will happen next.

Waiting for the big snow to arrive is sort of nerve-wracking. I kept looking out the window. At least snow is easier to handle than ice. I still remember three years ago when the nursing home took Margaret Wolf and me in when our power went off.

Speaking of Margaret, I was going through some old letters and found two very interesting ones from Margaret, written 50 years ago. She describes sailing on a huge boat through storms. Then she talked about her family in Germany where a grandchild was expected.

Very interesting. I mailed them to her daughter. I hope she will read them to Margaret. I wonder if she will remember that time long ago. I think she was very brave to make that trip all on her own.
