Random Thoughts: Advice for graduates
When you come to a "fork in the road," take it. That's what a lot of graduates might be facing. Will the next step be college, a job, or what? Of course, a lot depends on finances, scholarships, or working while in school. Anyway, good luck in making the choice.
I'm reading a book, "Experience," by Martin Amis. It was a gift, but what a book! I need to have had an Oxford education to appreciate its real value. It is a memoir by an English writer. He uses words (some I have never heard of) and refers to other writers and their works (some I have heard of). He uses lots of footnotes. By the time I check them, I've lost the thread of the sentence or paragraph that I have just read. It's a challenge!
The guards of the English palaces wear those tall hats trimmed in fur. They look terribly heavy and uncomfortable. They have been the customary garb for centuries. Some animal lovers have petitioned the queen to have the fur trim removed as they are from the pelts of real bears. I suppose fake fur could replace it but you know the English prefer the real thing so I don't know how the queen will decide on the request. Queens often have to make tough decisions. She does have two handsome grandsons. I saw them doing an interview on TV not long ago. Real handsome.
