Random Thoughts: Birthday makes one appreciative
Just one little candle or a little cake for a little one-year-old. One hundred two years later, the cake doesn't exist that could hold all those candles. What a wonderful birthday, filled with love, well-wishing cards, gifts, and happy telephone calls. No one could ask for more and I do thank you, one and all.
We had one bad event during the week. It seems there was a leaking pipe in the neighborhood. In order to meet the emergency, we were warned to fill jars and buckets with water. Of course, I wanted the leaky pipe repaired and it was, in record time. What would we do without our skilled workmen? We may not have our fancy stores and shops we once had, but we do have excellent help when things go wrong. I tip my hat to those people.
Remember last winter when we had that terrible ice storm? The workers came out in the cold and icy weather to take care of the problem. How often do we express our appreciation for their work?
I have been enjoying company the past few days. My sister, Marge and her husband, Don from Arizona; my sister, Betty from Portland, Ore.; and my daughter, Wanda from Colorado Springs. The Arizona people even brought grapefruit they had picked from their own tree. Of course my daughter, Mary and her husband, Bob from Salina were here part of the time and my son, Bud and wife Lavonne always are on call
