Random Thoughts: Each day contains surprise
I'm amazed every day at something or other. My great-granddaughter Jennifer came up with the cleverest thing. It was a disc of musical numbers. Each number was a choice of one of the members of her family — like their favorite tune at the time. There were 22 choices.
The youngest child (nine months) chose "You Are My Sunshine." Now that brought back a lot of memories. That song was my son Bud's favorite song even before he could walk. He sang it day and night.
One young man chose "Amazing Grace." I supposed he would choose rap or western.
I thought Wanda, her grandmother, would choose something by Willie Nelson but she didn't. Most songs were the modern ones that I don't listen to. We listened to the whole thing Sunday afternoon. I sure wouldn't know what I would choose. I loved all those '20s, '30s, and '40s songs.
One evening my date and I were playing a new record on the wind-up player. It was new and hot — named "Hot Lips." We played it and played it. All at once my dad walked in and lifted the needle off the record!
I noticed an addition in The Wichita Eagle — two pages, one for women and one for men — ads looking for friends, partners, or companions. I guess they do that on the web, too. Sometimes it works I guess, but it's pretty risky to answer them. I read where a lot of women went to Alaska looking. Maybe we should go back to parents arranging marriages — that is, if we can find the parents. Oh, well!
