Random Thoughts: Feline enjoys French fling
Let us enjoy this wonderful fall weather. My sister, who lives in Portland, Ore., says it is rainy and disagreeable there. Let us be glad we live in sunny Kansas.
I just read an article in a paper about a cat named Emily, a native of Wisconsin which has turned up in France. She had been missing for a month and her family had given up on ever finding her. Imagine their surprise when they received news of her travels. It seems she was wearing a collar that identified her veterinarian's name and address. You can't blame her for wanting a little fling in a foreign land. I wonder if she visited Paris and picked up some fancy clothes or climbed the Eiffel Tower? When I was there I remember eating some delicious seafood. I'm sure she liked that. Now, Emily is waiting for passage home. If only the Concorde were flying, she could hop on it.
I'm now reading a book about Dolly Madison. The story tells about the many Frenchmen who came to America to get away from the French Revolution. Many of them married Dolly's girlfriends and many of them were titled, so society made a big to-do about them.
When I was doing title work, I was quite enthralled with the titled French names that appeared on the land around Florence. Of course, my imagination bloomed. Someone should do research of that area. There must be some history of interest there.
Getting back to the cat, her family thinks they may have to buy a ticket to get her home. As she now sits there in all her majesty, waving her paw goodbye to her hosts and saying "adieu," so now that is what I say — "adieu."
