Random Thoughts: I m a celebrity now
"I'm nobody! Who are you?" as written by Emily Dickinson in her little poem written so long ago. Not true for me. I'm not "nobody." I'm "somebody" since a charming girl reporter from the Salina Journal wrote such a nice article about me in the July 2 paper. She had a young man photographer with her. I told him to make me look good — and I think he did.
Fourth of July has come and gone. Mine was very quiet and peaceful. Even it was beautiful and peaceful having a wonderful breakfast at the lake with my son, Bud and his wife Lavonne. In the evening I watched TV. I found an interesting program that was given at the Ford Theater in Washington, D.C. I was especially interested because I have been there for a theater production. Tom Selleck was hosting the program this time. The balcony where Lincoln sat when he was shot was decorated in a patriotic manner. What really impressed me was how well Selleck read the Gettysburg Address. He did it so beautifully that I was near tears.
My daughter, Mary told me of a young boy who had a string of 16,000 firecrackers. It took 16 minutes to fire them. That must have been pretty dramatic. I wonder if there will be some laws passed for next year to better control fireworks because of some very bad accidents this year. I like fireworks but they are dangerous if not controlled.
