Random Thoughts: Telling it like it is

First, I want to say how wonderful it was to have rain and cool weather for a few days. Now we can face the next wave of heat with more bravado.

I want to correct a slight error in my last article. Just one letter needs to be changed. When I told about trading compliments, the wording should have been "trade last" instead of "list." I guess I mistook my audiences' memories. I must remember, no one of the last few generations goes back as far as I do. I asked my beauty operator if she had ever heard of that phrase "trade last" and she said no. Well, it is no life and death matter.

I think having a five-person council to guide Marion is a good thing. More ideas may come up. I want to commend Eloise Mueller — at least she is trying to get Marion to do something positive.

The picture of the children selling lemonade to help raise funds for the upcoming theater is refreshing. Now there you see who is going to be the real leaders in the future. I wish I had some of their lemonade right now.

Also the articles about the families who have one or more family member over in Iraq fighting for freedom brought a feeling of "what can I do to support them?" I think all of us should realize there is a war going on and we need to do our part. Maybe we could even write letters to those over there or to the ones who are trying to hold their homes together. It must be hard. Call it patriotism!
