Random Thoughts: What would bring folks to Marion?
What will they think of next? Lindsborg has its Dala horses, Cincinnati has pigs, and Chicago has cows. Those critters are scattered all over those cities.
Not to be outdone, Burns has roosters, about 40 of them. They are made of cement and painted in all sorts of designs. Did you see the display in Sunday's Wichita Eagle?
What could Marion do to encourage tourists to come to our town? How about a contest for a good suggestion?
I think Marion could use an attractive book and gift shop like the one in Peabody called Jack- rabbit Hollow. The owner displays books as to age groups, which is helpful when buying gifts for children. I think she even serves a cup of tea. I think our Kraft Korner will do that.
Now, that is my pep talk for the week.
My sister, Betty, of Portland, Ore., says they are having 103 degree temperatures there. Have Kansas and Oregon changed places? I also saw on TV that Arizona was having a terrible dust storm. I thought this was their monsoon season.
I'm reading a book about the wine country in Napa Valley, Calif. Now, if we could grow grapes here and build a winery, we would have it made. But the process seems pretty complicated to me.
