REC activities are open for registration

Several activities have been scheduled for the fall season through Marion/USD 408 REC.

Co-ed flag football for youth in grades five and six will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 10 and 24 and Oct. 8 and 22.

Casey Case will coach and it will be held at the Warrior practice field.

Cost is $5 and registration is due by Sept. 8.

The Old Settlers' Day run will be held Sept. 30. A 5k run will begin at 8 a.m., followed by a one-mile fun run.

Runners are to meet at Marion County Park and Lake hall.

Registration is $5 and due by Sept. 15. Cost increases to $8 after the registration date.

A personalized tour of Marion County Park and Lake also will be held on Old Settlers' Day.

The bus will leave from the parking lot across from Kingfisher's Steakhouse & Lounge at the lake.

The tour will be guided by Landon Leiker. Cost is by free will donation and proceeds go toward the purchase of equipment for court games, such as croquet, checkers, shuffleboard, and tennis.

Adult golf lessons will be available from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 2-6 with Jack Webb at Marion Country Club.

Cost is $20. To register, contact Webb at 382-2264.

Once again, the Marion youth basketball league for boys and girls will get underway in December.

The league is limited to the first six paid teams per grade level (grades four, five, and six). All grades will play separately and games will be played at Marion gymnasiums.

Play dates are Dec. 2, 9, 16, Jan. 6, 13, and 20. Post-season tournaments will be held Feb. 10 and Feb. 24.

Cost is $25 per player. Registrations are due Oct. 27.

Registration for any REC activity may be taken to Marion Elementary School office or Marion Chamber of Commerce or mailed to PO Box 125, Marion.
