Response is overwhelming
To the Editor:
Thursday, May 10 — what a wonderful day. What an exciting day. What a day to be a Kansan!
I represent a Pizza Hut franchise of 18 stores located in central Kansas that is contributing more than $14,500 to the United Way Greensburg Kansas Fund due to the generosity of you, the people of Kansas. It is too early to know, but together with the support of Kansas and the Kansas Pizza Huts, the United Way Fund will receive more than $150,000.
I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every person who took time out of their day to eat at Pizza Hut and apologize to those who were not able to eat with us because we were out of product or because of delayed service times.
We planned for a busy day at all of our stores and you did not let us down. I personally worked in one of our restaurants for most of the day and I was in awe of the response that Kansans have for fellow Kansans in a time of need. Your turnout at each of our locations exceeded all of our expectations.
I also want to thank each of the local chambers of commerce and local media. This fund-raiser was supported by an e-mail network built by your chambers that delivered outstanding results, and by media coverage about the fund-raiser. The decision to support this event was made the afternoon of May 7, less than three business days for our stores to prepare, but we all pulled through and did something special for our neighbors.
Finally, I want to commend the hard work our crews put into making this fund-raiser a success. Without the teams in our stores this would not have been possible. At Pizza Hut we do CHAMPS cheers for people who do an outstanding job, so here is my CHAMPS cheer to our crews.
