Rollin Crowell
Rollin Crowell, 86, died May 12, 2002, at St. Luke Hospital in Marion. He was born Oct. 10, 1915 on a farm near Blue Mound, the second of three children born to Harry and Irene (Hawley) Crowell.
On Sept. 6, 1940, he was married to Alma Hobart at Nevada Mo. They had three children.
After serving in the Philippines as a tailor in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945, the young couple moved to Wichita. He was a paper hanger.
Rollin and Alma became members of Eastmoor United Methodist Church April 29, 1956. He also was a member of the Chat and Dine Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
In 1980, they moved to their retirement home on Marion County Lake and spent winters in Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma, on May 26, 1991; his parents; and a sister, Peggy Greehaw.
Survivors include sons Ron and wife Dianna of Backus, Minn., and Ricky of Camden, Mo.; a daughter, Dianne and husband Mike Roy of Park Rapids, Minn.; a brother, J.T. Crowell and wife Sidney of Lee's Summit, Mo.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; other relatives, and many friends.
Inurnment services were held May 29 in Marion Cemetery. The Rev. John Goering officiated.
