Ronald Payton
Ronald R. Payton, 64, of Hartford, died April 6, 2005.
Born Jan. 16, 1941, at Burns, he was the son of Willis and Lucile (Meirowsky) Payton.
He graduated from Emporia High School and lived in Emporia before moving to Hartford 34 years ago.
On Jan. 14, 1961, he married Rose Mary Clements at Emporia.
He was a former meat cutter for IPB Inc., for 28 years and later worked at Hartford Inc., for six years.
He and his wife owned and operated the Hartford Market for 18 years.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hartford.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Mary of Hartford; six sons, Milton, Paul, William, and Samuel Payton, all of Hartford, David Payton of Ottumwa, and Ralph Payton of Union City, Tenn.; two daughters, Ronda Payton of Burlington and Octavia Payton of Hartford; a brother, Danny Payton of Emporia; a sister, Judy Vaughn of Emporia; stepmother, Bess Payton of Concordia; and eight grandchildren.
The rosary was recited Friday evening at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hartford.
A Mass of Christian Burial was said Saturday morning at the church.
Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Hartford.
A memorial fund has been established with the church.
