Ruby Haizlip

Ruby Irene Haizlip, 93, died Jan. 30, 2002, at her home in Aurora, Mo.

Born Aug. 5, 1908, in Lincolnville, she was the daughter of Albert and Sarah (Symes) Garrison.

She married Alva Haizlip May 8, 1929, in Emporia. He died Oct. 10, 1996.

She was an elementary school teacher for 30 years before retiring in 1973. In 1961 the Haizlips built a log cabin near the lake at Shell Knob, Mo., where she last water-skied at age 80.

She was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, three brothers, and one sister.

Survivors include a son, Warren of Francis, Okla.; three daughters, Ruth Ann Baker of Aurora, Mo.; Caroline Sue Williams of Marion; and Rosalyn Bess James of Shell Knob, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Aurora United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Lee officiating. Burial was in Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora.

A memorial fund has been established with Aurora United Methodist Church.
