Samuel Denton

Samuel Ray Denton, 73, of Everett, Wash., died Dec. 4, 2003.

The son of Henry and Clara (Bangs) Denton, he was born Sept. 14, 1930, at Ackmen, Colo.

He entered the U.S. Navy on his 17th birthday and served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was awarded a Purple Heart.

On June 23, 1956, he married Lela Kahns in Everett, Wash.

He served 20 years in the Navy and attained the rank of EMCS before retiring from the service in 1967. After leaving the service, he was employed as plant superintendent for Chemical Proof Corp., Woodinville, Wash., and Cascade Marble & Onyx, Everett, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Henry.

Survivors include his wife, Lela; two sons, James Craig and Steven Ray Denton; and two grandchildren.

He was cremated and buried in Cypress Lawn Memorial Park during a private family service.

A memorial service was held Dec. 9 at Grace Lutheran Church, Everett, Wash.

A memorial fund was established with the church.
