Sassy Senior Moments

By JANET BRYANT

Senior center reporter

We never have a boring day at the senior center! Some days someone brings in something to show or give away (magazines or books) or even to taste. Shirley Moore brought in some cheese puffs one day for us to taste. Those who take photos will often bring in duplicates for anyone who wants one. People just like to share.

We're hoping a group will go to Salina for the Golden Years Spring Festival April 19. There will be entertainment all day, a talent show, liars' contest, hog-calling contest, game booths, bingo, a dance from 4 to 6 p.m., and another at 7 p.m. Call for more information. A chicken fried steak noon meal also will be served.

Vesta Stout came March 23 to help us in the dining room. We need someone who could fill in for us starting at 10:30 a.m. Mostly it consists of getting the tables and beverages ready and helping to get meals on wheels sent and serving the congregate meal.

Ivanlee Timm brought in a framed jigsaw puzzle of a train. It glows in the dark. We couldn't get the dining room dark enough so crowded into one of the offices to see the glowing train.

Rose Vinduska and Garland Shuff from Prairie View gave a presentation March 28. They brought Krispy Kreme donuts.

I went to the Marion City Council meeting where Mayor Martin Tice signed a proclamation declaring March as National Nutrition Month.

Come join us April 11 when Jona Baltzer of Hillsboro will bring a musical program.

Sign up to go to the dance April 17 in Lyons. Music will be provided by The Calhouns.
