Sassy Senior Moments

By JANET BRYANT

We're struggling to keep our spirits in a springtime mood, but our notorious Kansas weather is making it difficult.

We still celebrate birthdays. This past week we've had treats from Pauline Edmunds, Janet Bryant, and Leonard Klassen.

The Friday before Easter we had our own Easter parade. Shirley Bowers played the music while our hatted ladies and two men paraded. Harold Bowers in his cap decorated with souvenir pins, claimed it was the first time in his 90+ years he'd been in an Easter parade.

We discovered Aril 7 was "No Housework Day." What a relief!

A very efficient crew came April 9 to prepare newsletters for mailing. Lanell Hett directed Ivanlee Timm, Elsie Reiswig, Beulah Weigart, Norma Woerz, Virginia Downing, Mary Ann Timm, Nora Richter, Evelyn Jewett, Albert Steele, and June and Lois Jost in their task.

We've been doing true or false statements. There were no explanations of the answers, so Charles Montgomery did some research on the Internet. Here's one statement: "Babies are born without kneecaps." Go check a baby. The answer is true.

We welcomed the St. Luke Hospital retired personnel April 11. Jona Baltzer from Hillsboro provided vocal music accompanied by a type of autoharp.

Come join us for lunch April 25. Dennis Burch from Lincolnville will sing gospel music.
