We enjoyed the Butler Community College art class display this past week. Jenny Brown-Jacobs is the class instructor.
We celebrated some birthdays this week. Almeda Kahns came in from Lincolnville to enjoy her 80th birthday June 1. Iva Unruh observed her birthday June 2.
Blanche Cowan brought in Barbie and Ken dolls and the clothes she had made for them.
June is National Candy Month so we have been having a candy quiz every day.
Ellen Darrow brought in some sunflower-type blooms that grew from a wildflower seed packet she had planted.
Noreen Weems, Marion County Department for Elderly director, spoke to us on the background of aging legislation and issues. She noted that 67,473 people in the USA are 100 years old or older!
Come join us June 21, Senior Center Day. Entertainment will be provided by Eddie Nye, guitarist from Florence.

We have a row of singing bears and bunnies that change as people bring theirs in or take them home. Virginia Bowers brought her bear that sang, "I Hope You Dance." The most recent one is a 1920s flapper-type bear that sings, "I Wanna Be Loved By You." Sometimes we let them all sing at once.
Sixteen people played card bingo May 26. It's an easy game requiring no skill and a bit of luck. There are prizes to choose from for winners. Come try this game the last Friday of each month.
Lydia Batt brought in a hydrangea bloom to share. It was very green-looking at first but gradually has turned a shade of blue.
I had to share some sad news this week. It seems the man who wrote "The Hokey-Pokey," died recently at the age of 93. The traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg in. And then the trouble began
