Sassy Senior Moments: Batt explains virtues of exercise

By JANET BRYANT

Senior center reporter

Lydia Batt, who is more than 90 years old, gave us a rousing testimonial to exercise. She has been walking in the senior center and has lowered her blood pressure, plus she has gained flexibility. We walk to music every day at 11:30 a.m.

We have a new shipment of boxed greeting cards plus napkins. Come in and browse. Boxes are for birthday, sympathy, and get well, as well as secret pal or secret sister.

Albert Steele thanked us for our input on his paintings. Two were entered in the Marion County Fair. The winner's painting will be entered in the state fair.

We announced the winners of the "guess the money in the jar" contest. The amount was $19.06. Harold Bowers guessed $18.94; Shirley Bowers, $19.19; and Luella Popp, $19.20.

We had our monthly sing-along Wednesday after lunch. Shirley Bowers asked questions that were answered with song titles which we then sang.

We filled out the strategic planning survey. One individual was so enthused, he's thinking of attending some official meetings to see if our voices are heard.

Join us for lunch Aug. 24. Nancy Pihl will give the program entitled "Who Gets Grandma's Yellow Pie Plate?"

We will host a Medicare workshop Aug. 25 dealing with the prescription drug plan. The presentation by Social Security representatives will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Those with questions or needing help in applying for the drug plan may stay until 3 p.m.
