Sassy senior moments: Grandchildren visit senior center

By JANET BRYANT

We had some visiting grandchildren four days this week. Boston and Cherokee Bieler from Greenleaf came with Larry and Thelma Blosser. Both kids played pool with the guys, ate lunch with us, and helped clean off the tables. We enjoyed their visit.

Wednesday was Senior Center Day. We had a nice crowd to hear Rodney Koehn of Burns tell about making dulcimers. He then played some tunes, claiming he could teach anyone in the room to play the dulcimer within five minutes.

Noreen Weems announced Virginia Downing had been selected as Marion County First Mate. She will be honored along with other county representatives at the annual senior fair in Salina Sept. 20. The theme is "Riding the Waves of Change."

June Jost told us the story of his fish hook mishap one day. Cousins visiting Virginia Downing and Marilyn Geis reminded them publicly of an incident involving smoking corn silk in the barn. It was an eye opening story telling session.

Come join us for lunch Aug 3 when a presentation will be made about Hospice Care of Kansas.
