Sassy senior moments: Group begins WALK Kansas

By JANET BRYANT

March 9-15

WALK Kansas began Sunday. Our team, the Senior Center Sensations consists of Blanche Cowan, Shirley Bowers, Virginia Downing, Norine Holtsclaw, Thelma Blosser, and Janet Bryant. Together we hope to equal the 423 miles across Kansas. We also keep track of fruits and vegetables eaten each day.

We were pleased to have the senior center as the site Sunday for the Marion City Council candidate forum.

Madonna Schafers baked cookies for us to celebrate her birthday. It was a new recipe using Splenda.

Charles Montgomery has donated 50 copies of his recently published book "Seduction and Betrayal," a mystery-thriller to be used as a fund-raiser. Come pick up a copy for $5.

We said farewell to Barbara Killingsworth who volunteered in the dining room during a lull in her job in road construction. She's back at her real-life job now.

Bennie Holtsclaw entertained Wednesday for Senior Center Day.

We will observe National Nutrition Week Thursday. There will be a couple of guest celebrities delivering meals that day, so if you get meals from the center, you're in for a surprise visit.

Come join us March 29 for lunch. Our programs have been switched, so this is the actual day for Shirley Bowers' sing-along.
