Sassy senior moments: Kazoos abundant at senior center

Jan. 26-Feb. 1

Some weeks are just full of days to celebrate. I guess that's a good philosophy no matter what is on the calendar. We celebrated National Kazoo Day Thursday. I was surprised people remembered to bring their combs, but I did have waxed paper from home. We played "Home on the Range" on our make-do kazoos.

Kansas Day was observed Monday. Henrietta Waner brought her handy-dandy donut maker and made some for us. We all put little Kansas flags in them. Iva Unruh read an article about the man who wrote "Home on the Range." We did Kansas trivia from the Wichita Eagle and sang the Kansas song.

Doris Ewert announced the arrival of her 11th great-grandchild.

Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day was Tuesday and Wednesday was Bubble Gum Day. No one thought to bring either.

Shirley Bowers brought her Valentine candy box lid collection to display. Five of them have Elvis box lids.

Jerry Engler talked Wednesday about his book, "Just Folks," read one of the stories aloud, and signed books purchased.

Join us Feb. 15 for Senior Center day. There always is a good program following lunch.
