Sassy Senior Moments Local talent entertains seniors

By JANET BRYANT

Senior center reporter

We are in the process of developing a talent bank at the senior center. There is a great deal of local talent, much of it with those who dine here regularly. We want to showcase these talented people. Be sure to register your performing skills with us. OK, it's mostly a joke, but what a concept.

We did have some in-house talent exhibited this week through a couple of skits. Joyce Jackson and Janet Bryant did one entitled "Older But Not Always Wiser," about the things to do at a senior center. Leonard Klassen and Larry Blosser portrayed two clever hayseeds who outsmart city slickers Herb Jackson and Ivanlee Timm entitled "A Couple of Right Smart Fellers." There was no previous practice with the skits so spontaneous reactions were evident.

We also began an afghan-a-day display, first with one by Lois Johnson, then one made by Almeda Kahns. Other afghans for display are needed.

St. Luke retired hospital personnel were our guests one day this week, and will return in July. Bring your group for lunch and have your program with us.

National Banana Split Day was Friday. We were asked to have 10 items found in making a banana split.

Henrietta Waner and Shirley Bowers provided piano and organ music Friday before lunch.

Come for lunch Wednesday (June 22) and stay for our monthly sing-along.
