Sassy senior moments: Murder and mayhem hits senior center

By JANET BRYANT

Dec. 22-28

Our program Wednesday was a creative do-it-ourselves murder mystery drama entitled "Soup's On or A Spoonful of Death." The victim was the senior center manager, who seemingly deserved it. The alleged murderer was the cook, Keith Holtsclaw. Our two hat ladies, Thelma Blosser and Norine Holtsclaw, sobbed hysterically. The senior citizens president, Marilyn Geis stepped in to gain control of the crowed, and retired investigator, Larry Blosser attempted to unravel the mystery. Virginia Bowers was sent to test a blood sample. Sue Clough became a suspect and Woody Crawshaw, complete with badge, was the arresting officer. By the end the suspects were released with a warrant out for Albert Steele, who had left the scene.

It was a fast-paced production with Blanche Cowan holding signs for audience response and Shirley Bowers providing sound effects. The senior center players group has had its debut.

As we wind down the year 2005, we continue to celebrate special days and discover hidden talents.

We celebrated Keith Holtsclaw's birthday Dec. 22 and Herb and Joyce Jackson's 27th wedding anniversary Dec. 23.

Henrietta Waner brought homemade gingerbread men for us when we had our Christmas dinner.

Max Dunn called from New Mexico to wish us all a Merry Christmas.

We acted out the 12 days of Christmas Friday. Some of us got behind by the ninth or 10th day and never did catch up.

The Craft Corner women sorted out quilt blocks so they can make lap robes. The corner is having a first-of-the-year sale on several watches for men; the price is cut from $10 to $5.

Come join us for lunch Jan. 11 when Jerry Engler will talk about his recent book. Remember Elvis Day Tuesday.
