Sassy Senior Moments: Mystery jigsaw puzzle solved

By JANET BRYANT

Senior center reporter

April 6-12

We have celebrated birthdays and other designated days, had speakers, and walked further across Kansas.

National Fun at Work Day was Thursday. At the senior center, every day is fun.

We finished the mystery jigsaw puzzle. I read the accompanying story Thursday, describing the three suspects. The clues were found Friday in the puzzle and were explained. They included peanuts in the shell, cat dishes, clocks, and the body on the floor. My first conclusion as an amateur detective was completely wrong. It was a fun way to use our thinking ability.

Kathie Irwin of Mennonite Manor at South Hutchinson gave the Friday program. She spoke on staying active, especially in using our brains. Everyone received a folder she had prepared and she also provided door prizes.

Marion County Democratic Women ate lunch here Friday. They also enjoyed the program before their business meeting.

Leonard Klassen and I celebrated birthdays Friday. We provided ice cream and cupcakes and graciously wore the birthday hat.

National Licorice Day was Wednesday. Our program was given by Devona Roble, an occupational therapist. She explained brain gym, a class she teaches at Parkside Homes at Hillsboro. Drinking water was the number one priority before doing these simple exercises. We may incorporate them in our opening before lunch activities.

Come join us April 26 for lunch when the program will be given by David Coffman of Zeiner Funeral Home. The topic is pre-planning funerals.

Jeremy Armstrong, CEO at St. Luke Hospital will present a program May 2 on prescription drugs and other issues.
