Sassy Senior Moments: Turnip fairy visits
By JANET BRYANT

The turnip fairy visited this week. Yes, Judy Wegerer has had a bountiful crop to share with us. What produce will appear next?
Senior Center Day was Aug. 16. Our entertainment was provided by the Double Cousins, an instrumental group.
Madonna Schafers brought homemade cookies for us Aug. 20 — just because.
We had a big day Aug. 22, with commodities coming in to be sacked up and Hilltop Manor folks coming to eat lunch.
We celebrated two birthdays, Estelle McCarty's and Larry Blosser's. Each brought treats. We sang "Happy Anniversary" to Richard and Rhonda Brenzikofer to celebrate their 50th.
Our program was given by Andrea Bozarth, community outreach director, AARP Kansas. She talked about the current campaign, "Divided We Fall."
Then the crew got to work sacking commodities to be distributed. Those working were Ivanlee Timm, Albert Steele, Leonard Klassen, Larry Blosser, Shirley Moore, Evelyn Jewett, and Valera Morgan.
We had a funny reading about AAADD — Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder. We completely identified with it.
The center now is being painted by Nancy Fruechting, so everything is off the walls and moved out.
We play SkipBo on Tuesdays and Hand and Foot on Thursdays. There are pinochle and bridge groups that play here. Let us know if you'd like to play pitch.
Come join us Sept. 5 when Josh and Lisa Wesner will present a musical program.
We will be closed Labor Day.
