Sassy Seniors: New jigsaw puzzle is a mystery

By JANET BRYANT

Senior center reporter

We've started another mystery jigsaw puzzle. This one is called "Murder Makes a Call." The box lid picture is not what the puzzle actually is, so that's a challenge. The clues to the mystery are in the items in four wastebaskets pictured in the puzzle. There is a story that goes along with the characters, victims, crime, and solution. The story is being kept from those doing the puzzle.

Marion County Retired School Personnel ate with us June 8. They also provided a program for all of us. Lee Leiker, USD 408 superintendent, expressed his enjoyment in working with students and how pleased he is with school personnel presently involved with students.

We have some items bought at an auction that are for sale. There are a few bundles of batting in five-yard sections. There also are some things useful to someone who knows what they are — bindings, maybe. Come tell us what they are!

Have we celebrated birthdays this week! First, Darrell Weigart, then Lois Jost's big 90, and Jane Makovec the next day. Two of Lois' daughters brought in cake for all of us that day.

Flag Day was June 14, so we said the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and sang "You're a Grand Old Flag," led by Marilyn Geis. Shirley Bowers was the pianist.

Nancy Pihl, Marion County home extension agent, talked about whole grains. She brought loaves of bread and other items from the grocery store to illustrate her information.

Come join us June 28 for lunch. Dr. Dennis Scharenberg will have the presentation after lunch.
