Schedules announced for OSD class reunions
Below are listed the class reunions planned for the Old Setters' Day weekend. If your class is not listed, please supply that information to the newspaper by Sept. 12, so the schedules may be published during the annual festival.
Class of 1943
Friday at 6:30 p.m., members of the 60 year ago class will dine at Kingfisher's Inn
Saturday, 10:30 a.m. in Jex Addition to ride in parade at 11.
Lunch "on your own." Participate in afternoon program in Central Park, enjoy kids games, and class recognition at gazebo at 2 p.m.
Class of 1948
Friday, meet at 7 p.m. at home of Forrest and Bea Kelsey, 711 S. Coble, for a yard party, pizza and soft drinks furnished.
Saturday, 9 a.m., Marion Senior Center, coffee, donuts, and juice served. Board wagon for Jex Addition and ride in OSD parade.
Lunch at Kiwanis tent in Central Park. Participate in afternoon program and recognition at gazebo.
Social hour at 6 p.m. at Senior Center followed by dinner at 7 p.m.
Class of 1953
Classmates will celebrate their 50th anniversary beginning Friday evening when they and their spouses will gather at the home of Bob and Betty Seibel in Hillsboro.
Saturday at 9 a.m. they will enjoy coffee and rolls on the deck of the home of Harry and Theodora Koslowsky, 100 Washington, Marion. They also will prepare their hayrack for the annual parade, and ride in the parade at 11 a.m.
Lunch is "on your own."
All members of the class are urged to participate in class introductions at the gazebo at 2 p.m.
A dinner and a program will be held Saturday evening at Country Dreams Bed and Breakfast.
Class of 1958
Friday evening, Country Dreams for dinner.
Saturday morning, 10:30 a.m. Jex Addition, ride in parade at 11.
Noon, eat at Kiwanis tent in Central Park, enjoy games and activities, and participate in class recognition at gazebo.
Class of 1973
Saturday, 9 a.m., meet at Marion Die and Fixture to ride in 11 a.m. parade.
Lunch at Kiwanis tent in Central Park.
Afternoon of activities in park, including recognition at ceremony at gazebo.
Hog roast, 5 p.m., at home of Don and Pam Bredemeier south of Marion.
Class of 1978
The MHS class of 1978 will meet at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Mark's Activity Center, 415 N. Cedar, to decorate the float.
At 10:30 Friday they will gather in Jex Addition to ride the float in the 11 a.m. parade.
Lunch will be at noon from the Kiwanis tent in Central Park.
The class will participate in recognition of its 25th anniversary at 2 p.m. from the gazebo.
Evening activities begin at 6:45 p.m. with a social hour followed by a catered meal at St. Mark's Activity Center.
Class of 1983
Friday evening, attend MHS vs. Chase County football game at Cottonwood Falls, 7 p.m.
Greg and Linda (Robinson) Carlson will host an open house at their home, 1311 E. Weldon, following the game.
Saturday, 10:30 a.m., go to Jex Addition to get ready for riding in the 11 a.m. parade.
Lunch "on your own," enjoy the games at 1 p.m., and participate in class recognition at 2 p.m. from the gazebo in Central Park.
Social hour at 5:30 p.m., Marion Country Club, followed by a catered dinner at 6:30 p.m.
Patio dancing begins at 9:30 p.m., sponsored by Marion Country Club.
Class of 1988
The MHS class of 1988 will celebrate its 15th anniversary reunion. Classmates will meet Friday evening to grill-your-own dinner at Marion County Park and Lake. The shelter house near Kingfisher's Inn has been reserved from 2 to 8 p.m. Following the meal, they will gather at Marion Country Club.
Saturday at 10 a.m. they will gather at Leah Schmidt's home, 213 Grant in Jex Addition, to board the float which they will ride in the 11 a.m. parade.
Classmates may visit with friends and families in Central Park until the 2 p.m. program from the gazebo, with the class introduced.
Saturday evening the class will meet for a social hour at 6 p.m. in the American Legion at Florence with the meal served at 7 p.m.
Other classes are invited to join them at the Legion building after the meal.
