Schimpf, Callahan are married
Stephanie Lynn Schimpf and Christopher Michael Callahan were united in marriage Oct. 30, 2004, in Black Mountain, N.C. The Rev. Dr. Robert Ratchford officiated during the ceremony.
The bride's parents are Gene and Connie Schimpf of Black Mountain, N.C. She is the granddaughter of Larry Jost of Hillsboro and the late Kathryn Schimpf Thole. The groom's parents are Michael and Bernice Callahan of Christiansburg, Va.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory Velesca gown. The fitted bodice had a portrait neckline with a dropped waist and two front pleats. The capped sleeves contained delicate beadwork which continued throughout the bodice. The princess-cut skirt continued into a semi-cathedral-length train featuring buttons all the way down the train. She wore a waterfall veil with ivory braid trim.
Kimberly Walker of Lucevale, Miss., was matron of honor. She wore a halter strap A-line burgundy satin dress. Bridesmaids were Sara Snow, sister of the groom, of Christiansburg, Va., and Jackie Woodson and Susan Baerenklau of Charlotte, N.C.
Michael Callahan, the groom's father, served his son as best man. He wore a black tuxedo with a black shirt and burgundy vest with bow tie. Groomsmen were Chris Weaver of Amelia, Va., Michael Donohue of Spotsylvania, Va., and Matt Woodson, cousin of the groom, of Charlotte, N.C.
Ushers were Jonathan Walls of Charlotte, N.C., and Adam Mack of Charleston, S.C.
Also taking part in the wedding were the grandchildren of Larry Jost, Krista Enns of San Francisco, Calif., Peter Enns of Chapel Hill, N.C., children of Melvin and Karen Enns, and Jonathan Wohlgemuth of Claremore, Okla., son of Willis and Cindy Wohlgemuth.
The bride's parents hosted a dinner reception at the Wild Hare in Black Mountain, N.C.
The groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Monte Vista Hotel in Black Mountain, N.C.
The couple enjoyed a honeymoon in the Bahamas. They make their home in Charlotte, N.C.
The bride is a graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in animal science. She also has an elementary teaching certificate from the University of North Carolina of Asheville. She is employed as a customer service representative for Carrier Heating and Air Conditioning in Charlotte, N.C.
The groom is a graduate of Radford University with a degree in speech communications. He is a rental coordinator for HVAC Portable Systems in Charlotte, N.C.
