Scholars Bowl team takes first at Northern Heights
The Marion High School Scholars' Bowl team began the year Tuesday by bringing home the first place trophy from Northern Heights Home School.
The Warriors finished first at the tournament with the best overall record of 10 wins, 2 losses. Thirteen teams competed.
"This is the second year in a row for us to win this tournament," said coach Doug Vogel.
Junior Sarah Davidson scored 350 points followed by sophomore Trevor Jones with 175, freshman Rachel Davidson had 100, and sophomores Eric Steiner had 40 and Adam Guetersloh had 10.
"This year's team is very young, but is very well rounded and enthusiastic," Vogel said. "They did much better in the language arts and fine arts categories than past teams."
In November, the varsity will compete at Eureka and Rock Creek tournaments and the junior varsity will compete at Olpe.
