Selvys to celebrate 60th anniversary years ago
Bernard and Wanita Selvy of Heather Gardens, in Aurora, Colo., will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary at Heather Gardens Club House. A fiesta dinner party will be held June 8 and an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. June 9.
The couple's two children Bernita Curry and Chuck Selvy, three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren will host the weekend-long event. All are from the Denver, Colo., area.
Bernard Selvy and Wanita Razor were married June 7, 1942, at First Christian Church, Marion. They were high school sweethearts with the class of 1939.
For the first three years of their marriage, Bernard was in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Hutchinson, the Naval Air Station in Rhode Island, and the Great Lakes area near Detroit, Mich. After his discharge from the service, the couple lived in Newton where Bernard traveled with Pittsburg Plate Glass Co. They owned and operated Selvy Interiors for 14 years, selling out in 1960 to move to the Denver area. They lived on a horse ranch for 17 years near Parker, Colo., where Bernard was and is in the farm and ranch real estate business. Selvys have lived in Aurora for the past 25 years.
Special guests for the weekend will be Wanita's sister, Peggy Thies and Paul Eberhard, both of Salina, as well as Peggy's three daughters, Patti Pensabene of Holbrook, N.Y., Cindy Slagle of San Antonio, Texas, and Sandy Mitchell of Edmond, Okla., and son and daughter-in-law, Charlie and Stephanie Thies, Kristin, Chelsee, and Katie, and a friend, John, all of Olathe.
