Seniors approve budget, center manager resigns
Senior Citizens of Marion County, Inc. met June 16 at Burns Community Building and heard reports.
The reports included:
— Marion County will receive $3,083 from North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging for 2007. The group also approved $3,222 in funding for Senior Care Act. The state will match local contributions.
— Elaine Martel, Peabody Senior Center Manager, will retire Friday. Arlene Unruh and Martel have shared the position. Pat Henderson has been hired to fill the position.
— ONE committee will meet at 1:30 p.m. July 11 at Peabody Senior Center.
— This year's honoree at the senior fair Sept. 19 at Salina will be this year's county spelling bee champion.
— Lanell Hett, secretary and transportation coordinator, reported five trips, three health related. Lettering on the department for elderly vans now read "Marion Co. Dept. for Elderly" instead of "General Public Transportation."
The next meeting will be July 21 at Goessel.
