Sherwood Waggy

Sherwood Waggy, 86, of Burns, died April 7, 2004.

The son of Chester and Lenora Waggy, he was born Oct. 14, 1917, at Burns.

He grew up west of Burns, a mile north of Pleasant Center Cemetery. He attended school in Burns.

On July 12, 1939, he married Fern Marjorie McIntosh at Cottonwood Falls. The couple had two sons.

He spent most of his life as a rancher and enjoyed raising horses and working outdoors. He also enjoyed woodworking and short vacation trips.

He was dedicated to his family and will be remembered for his loyalty to his many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a brother, Roger.

Survivors include his two sons, Ronald of Cheney, and Rex of Burns; a brother, Clyde Waggy of El Dorado; four sisters, Alice Wilbur of El Dorado, Dorothy Whisler of Peabody; Betty McClay of Ottawa, and Bernice Behrendt of Indiana; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Zeiner Funeral Home, Florence, with the Rev. Wayne Handle officiating.

"What a Wonderful World" and "Amazing Grace" were sung by Daytha Langenegger. Cynthia Lemke was the pianist.

Burial was in the Burns Cemetery.

A memorial fund was established with the Florence Ambulance Service.
