Shirley Burkholder
Shirley Ann Burkholder, 65, of Marion, died March 2, 2007.
Born Oct. 28, 1941, on the family farm east of Marion, she was the youngest of seven children born to Stuart and Beulah Lucas.
She was a lifelong resident of Marion, graduating from Marion High School in 1959.
On July 22, 1962, she married William (Bill) Burkholder. He died in 1995.
She previously worked at St. Luke Hospital and had been employed at Marion County Health Department since 1987.
She was a member of Marion Christian Church.
In addition to her husband, Bill, she was preceded in death by her parents; and older brother, Ronald Lucas.
Survivors include two sons, Jeff Burkholder of Wichita and Kevin and Kris Burkholder of Marion; three sisters, Wanda Feldhut and Betty Crank of California and Dorothy Kohls of Salina; two brothers, Shorty Lucas and Bud Lucas, both of Marion; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Marion Christian Church with the Rev. Carl Helm officiating.
Burial was in Marion Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established with the church.
