Sixth T-Roy Rod Run is Saturday

The sixth annual T-Roy Rod Run will be held Saturday. This is the sixth year the event is being held to honor the memory of Troy Malmgren, late grandson of the late Leslie and Maryetta Malmgren and the son of Jerry and Edna Mae Malmgren of Overland Park.

Troy, who tragically died in a car accident six years ago in Wichita, was well known for refurbishing and rebuilding cars. This is a way his family and friends remember him.

A caravan of cars will leave Wichita Saturday morning, go to Hillcrest Cemetery in Florence where Troy is buried, then have a parade through downtown Florence around 10 or 10:15 a.m.

Anyone is welcome to look at the restored vehicles at Grandview Park. They will eat lunch there and leave Florence around 1 p.m.

Bill Bowen, one of the event organizers, said there will probably be 75 to 100 people participating, with 50 to 60 older or show-type vehicles, including mostly cars but also some motorcycles.
