Skiles gets scholarship to Pittsburg
Braxton Skiles, a senior at Marion High School, has received a Dean's Scholarship to attend Pittsburg State University next fall.
He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Bruce Skiles, Marion.
He plans to pursue a career as a certified registered nurse anesthetist.
Active in community, church, and school events, he is a member of National Honor Society; plays tenor saxophone in the school band and received a I rating three times in state competition; lettered in football four years, was team co-captain, and named first team all-league as a defensive end this past fall; a varsity letterman three years and co-captain of his basketball team, he was named second team all-league his junior year; he also has lettered three years in track and was state 3A triple jump champion two years.
He also has been prom prince, homecoming king, is listed in national honor directories of athletes and students, has served as a swim pool lifeguard, and attended Boys State.
