Socolofsky collection to be dedicated at library

A collection of books and writings by Marion native and noted Kansas historian, Dr. Homer Socolofsky, will be received at a dedication ceremony April 28 at Marion City Library.

The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. that Monday in the newly restored Santa Fe Depot which has become the city library.

Professor Socolofsky was raised and educated in Marion, graduating from Marion High School in 1940.

He is a professor emeritus of history at Kansas State University.

The dedication event will celebrate his professional contributions.

Dr. Craig Minor will be the featured speaker. He is the Willard W. Garvey Distinguished Professor of History and department chairman at Wichita State University.

Friends and colleagues of Dr. Socolofsky are invited to attend the dedication of the Homer E. Socolofsky Collection.

A reception will be held to conclude the event.
