Sondergards to celebrate 65th wedding anniversary years ago
Alfred and Darlene Sondergard will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary Sept. 15 with a private family dinner at Abilene.
Alfred Sondergard and Darlene Helbach were married Sept. 6, 1942, at the home of her parents.
They are lifelong residents of Ramona, except for the time Al spent in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Until his retirement, he owned and operated Sondergard Garage at Ramona. Darlene served as bookkeeper, parts runner, and partner.
The couple's three daughters and their spouses are Karen and Bob Ehrlich of Marion, Marilyn and Jim Peterson of Burdick, and Kaye and Earl Risser of Hope. They also have seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. One grandson, Brian Pagenkopf, is deceased.
