Spring yard work is here in full force — gardens are planted, flowers are blooming, and yards are being mowed. We had rain last week — probably about and inch in all.

Rosalie and Leonard Klassen and Vernon and Rachel Friesen ate Friday night supper at the MSC sale and saw all the beautiful quilts before they were sold on Saturday.

Richard and Patty McLinden and Bud and Roseva McLinden met relatives at the Red Coach Inn in Newton this weekend for visiting and dinner. Those attending were Roseva's brother Ray Melson and his sons Rodney, Brian and wife, and Randy and wife; a brother-in-law Gene Obee; sister-in-law and husband Kathryn and Bob Ireland; and cousins Marion Melson and wife Lela and Mildred and Lauren Cox. Marion and Mildred are brother and sister. The family had a great visit together.

Rosalene and Charles Stinchcomb met family at a restaurant in Salina for dinner and later visited in the home of Susie and Dick Mueller. Other family members present were Dr. Charlie Stinchcomb from Russell and Charlene and Ralph Janzen and Cory and Julie Janzen of Hillsboro.

Alvina Hoffman, Shirley Bowers, and Margaret Ireland attended a UMW meeting at Eastmoor Wednesday afternoon.

Shirley Bowers and Greg and Mary Beth Bowers, Rhonny, Luke, and Stephen attended the spaghetti dinner Sunday noon at Eastmoor.

Mary Beth Bowers give a puppet show for preschoolers Thursday in Goessel. The preschool is named "Kinder haus."

Luke Bowers and Kyle Hett attended the junior high confirmation rally in Wichita Friday and Saturday held for the United Methodist youth.

Roseva McLinden, Lorene Smith, Gertie Mahoney, Darlene Schmidt, LuCretia Winkley, and Margaret Ireland attended a lesson on money management Tuesday morning at the Marion City Building. We ate lunch together at McGillicuddy's and had our Youngtown FCE business meeting there.

Kristine Bateman visited her parents, R.J. and Jeannine this weekend. Maxine Cunningham of Nebraska visited the Batemans from Friday evening through Sunday. Maxine is a sister to Ralph Zeller and a cousin of R.J.

Brent and Paula Hayen called on Dorothy and John Hayen before returning to their home. Dorothy and John and Virginia Downing attended church at Eastmoor Sunday, then drove to Florence for dinner.

Cy and L.Dena Goertz were Sunday dinner guests of Diana and Clint Jost. They celebrated grandson John's birthday. Additional guests were Beth and Nick Weibert, Tory Hecht, Lorene Jost, and Naomi Nelson.

Vicki Smolik, Edmund Steiner, and Lorraine Havlik attended the wedding of Leroy Hovorka and Norma Mosley Saturday afternoon at the McPherson park. They also attended the reception and dance at the VFW.

Vicki Smolik, Edmund Steiner, Cy and L.Dena Goertz, David and Shirley Bowers, and Leonard and Rosalie Klassen attended the REA meeting Wednesday evening at Centre High School.

Eileen Sieger and other PEO members attended the reciprocity luncheon on Saturday at McPherson.

Saturday dinner guests of Shirley and David Bowers were Greg and Mary Beth Bowers, Rhonny, Luke, and Stephan, Daniel and Kim Bowers, Bryce and Breanna, Beverly and Kevin Jennison, Betsy and Randy Bunnel and Kelli, and Joshua Bunnel of Manhattan.

I drove to Wichita through fog Sunday morning and attended church at Fairview Christian. I lunched with Marj and Joe Johnson and Emily. In the afternoon we picked up Ethan Johnson from his first Scout camp-out at Sedan. Sunday evening I was an invited guest to a surprise 30th anniversary party for Rich and Linda Buchanan, oldest daughter of Joyce Ireland Roberts. Thirty years ago, when they were married, I made her wedding gown. I spent 50 hours sewing lace and seed pearls on the gown once I had it fitted to her. She made a beautiful bride and I loved dressing these real live dolls.
