Spring is coming
Say, have you seen the big piles of snow around town? The banks out by St. Luke Hospital and Carlsons' Grocery are very impressive. If I weren't leery about walking on ice I would be out there with my camera taking pictures of the great snow of 2004.
The city used to close Elm Street hill so the kids could use it for sledding. I guess they don't do that anymore. I remember before the center of Central Park was filled up, there was a great place to slide there.
Some boys would put a wagon bed on runners and a team of horses would pull us all over town. Of course, the wagon bed slid all over the street, making it great fun.
I know snowstorms aren't all fun and games. Some of my country friends have told me of losing baby calves because of the snow and cold temperatures.
It is hard to believe that in a few months we will be seeing flowers and blooming trees just where the snow is now. My doctor brother-in-law used to say that it is healthier to live where the seasons change, but I notice that he lived in California most of his life.
Speaking of California, some of the nurses at St. Luke Hospital sign up as traveling nurses and some go to California and work there for a short time. If I had a choice, I would go to Hawaii — it's so beautiful there.
We can dream, that is one thing about imagination. Because if we want to, we can imagine being in some exotic place — especially if you have been there or have read about it. Aloha!
