Lois Winter and her beautiful voice was our hymn sing leader Thursday morning. Following this hour, the Lunch Bunch — Mel Brewer, Amelia Vinduska, Alice Van Buren, and Lillian Stenzel climbed into our new vehicle with Khrista at the wheel and JoAnn Fitzpatrick riding shotgun.

After lunch, the bunch returned and another group went on a little shopping trip. When the shoppers got back, a van full took advantage of the good weather and went sightseeing. We are in the lap of luxury.

With all the trips we even managed to do some more undecorating. There are more things left to pack away, but the consensus seems to be it's ore fun to put the things up.

Our new year baking got off to a good start Friday morning. Coming out of the oven the butterscotch oatmeal cookies looked picture perfect and they tasted just as good.

In the afternoon, Magdalen Dvorak drove in from Pilsen with her kolaches and called bingo for us. As usual, it was necessary to push two of our large tables together to accommodate all the players.

A nice-sized group met with our Sunday afternoon guest minister, Rick Branson of Eastmoor and Burdick Methodist churches. Anita Brookens was here to play the piano for our songs of praise.

Monday morning we prettied-up in readiness for a real favorite occasion — the popcorn popping machine in action. We sometimes feel this doesn't happen often enough, but that's what makes it such a treat.

We enjoyed book club Tuesday morning as Mary and Laura Ingalls were introduced to crabs, blood suckers, school, and the infamous Nellie Olsen.

Our afternoon included a visit from Evelyn Bredemeier, who brought a basket containing coconut macaroons, jelly roll, snack crackers, fresh fruit, and pecans. She even brought a pecan cracker she'd recently acquired and we watched it in action. Mary Ann Wiens and Shirley Bowers joined our residents for snacks and fellowship. We are happy the hospital auxiliary continues this once a month get-together.

Tuesdays also bring our beautician, Bonnie Plummer, who had the little shop decorated for Christmas and now she has decorated the room with blue and silver, snowflakes of all sorts, and lots of sparkles.

We sang hymns with Shirley Bowers Thursday morning. After lunch we ate ice cream to celebrate the January birthdays in the building. We spent the rest of the afternoon being "artsy." We were given some large prints of a variety of subjects in need of some color. Using colored pencils and crayons we had a wonderful time working on our own project and admiring those of others. Terry Frans joined us for some coffee while spending time visiting with his mother, Fern.
