St. Luke: New minister preaches

(News from June 1 to 7)
Sunday's church service was given by the new Christian Church minister Carl Helm. He was accompanied by his wife JoAnn, Donna and Jim Fruechting, Rebecca and Carolyn Savage, and Margaret Tice.
Iva Unruh gave a program Monday on stories written by people who came west in covered wagons..
The prayer group on Tuesday was led by Dick Pracht. This was followed by a piano recital of classical music by Rose Davidson and her two daughters.
Wednesday was "pretty-up" time with Amanda McLinden and Doris Buckner. There was a party for those with June birthdays:. honored were Jane Williams, June 1; Dave Helmer, June 5; and Pearl Baxter, June 7. Ice cream and cake were served by family members.
There was an hour of hymn singing Thursday led by Dave and Shirley Bowers. She played the piano and sang, and his good voice helped us. Current events was in the afternoon with Sue Gutsch reading the Marion County Record. Several items were discussed and several told of tornadoes they had experienced.We then were served refreshments.
Cookies were baked Friday with Amanda McLinden. Everyone ate cookies and drank coffee. The afternoon was spent playing Bingo. Amanda called the numbers.
There was the usual coffee hour Saturday morning with Gene Vinduska playing polka and waltz music on his accordion and singing some of the songs while residents ate cookies and drank coffee.
We really had an interesting week of activities. Many residents had lots of visiting relatives which sure helps with loneliness.
