St. Luke seeks more information
The board of directors of St. Luke Hospital & Living Center voted Thursday to table any action on a joint venture with Mid-America Management company until more information can be received.
CEO Doug Newman said he would work to discover financial costs of the venture for future consideration.
The board discussed a claim on part of the late Thelma Schlotthauer's estate. Schlotthauer had named the hospital district as a beneficiary of part of the estate.
A Shirley Jo Watkins, address unknown, contested a part of the district's bequest, claiming she had an interest in one specific account included in the bequest.
The hospital board, instead of contesting Watkins' claim, decided it was in everyone's best interest to let her claim stand.
Fruechting announced that massage therapist Carolan McFarland has signed a lease on the former dentist's clinic on Main Street.
McFarland told him it may take four to six weeks before the facility will open for business.
